Hey all
I've been playing SoSE for a while now, and have noticed a few things that...well, they seem kinda wrong.
#1: Why, when attacking a pirate homeworld just after a 'raid', do they consistently have 50+ (usually more like 70+) ships waiting for you?
#2: The AI needs to not spam. Spamming is for kids who don't know how to play the game; meanwhile, decent corvettes are so difficult to get that it's usually mid-lategame before you can get something that can pop those annoying light frigs that they AI loves to build en masse. Indeed, there needs to be a version between (using the TEC names, but the races have effectively the same ships) the Cobalt light attack ship and the Kodiak assault unit. The AI (even the rats) love to build hundreds of them and use them as nearly the only unit in the fleet. While the specialized frigs are occasionally useful...it's quite rare. Probably the most useful is the flak frigate (HW2 FTW), and even that's pointless unless you're facing strikecraft-heavy fleets...and then it's often easier to blow the carrier, since they /have/ to stay in-system with their strike units.
#3: Fighters need to be more powerful. It should not take 7 squads of bombers multiple passes to kill one light frigate. Period.
#4: We should be able to move units in 3d again. I don't have the latest patch yet, so this may have been fixed, but structures/units should be able to be moved in 3D.
#5: It feels like the capital ships' guns have been nerfed. Please up the firepower? I mean, if /I/ had a kilometers-long warship, it probably wouldn't take me 10 or more rounds to completely kill a frigate....
Now, I'll be the first to admit that since I don't have the latest patch, some of these points may be...well...pointless. But I do think the SOSE guys should probably take a look at them anyway.
P.S. also in favor of a SP campaign or two. just sayin'!
